Hula

Pua Kea Hula Group

The Seniors of Paradise hula group began shortly after the organization was formed in 1982. In 1986 the group was disbanded and re-organized with Eve Henderson as the instructor.  Eve started hula back in 1952 on the mainland.

The name of the halau is “Pua Kea Hula” and meets twice weekly (check the Current Calendar for class schedules). It began with about 6 dancers and has grown.  We now have over 20 active members.

The foundation of the halau is love and caring — for hula and for one another. Pua Kea learns both traditional Hawaiian and “hapa-haole” songs. Anyone 55 or over is invited to join us for hula, group support, and EXERCISE (it really is good for you).
